Olaolu Slawn
Olaolu Slawn (born 2000 in Lagos) is a British-Nigerian artist and designer who merges street-art energy with pop-surrealist sensibilities.
He began in Nigeria’s skate culture — working at the pioneer skate shop Wafflesncream and co-founding the streetwear collective Motherlan — before relocating to London to study graphic design.
Painting became his medium during the 2020 lockdown, and he quickly developed a bold visual language using spray paint, graffiti, large-scale canvases and caricature-inspired forms.
Since his debut exhibition in 2021, his work has drawn attention from major collectors and outlets — and in 2023 he became the youngest, and first Nigerian-born, artist to design the statuette and set for the BRIT Awards.
