Robert Longo

Robert Longo (b. 1953) is an American artist known for his powerful, hyper-real charcoal drawings that explore the tensions of contemporary life. Emerging in the late 1970s New York art scene, Longo became widely recognized for his iconic Men in the Cities series, a body of large-scale drawings depicting sharply dressed figures caught in contorted, almost explosive gestures.

Within this series, Eric stands out as one of Longo’s most emblematic images—an arresting portrait of a young man’s body twisting in mid-motion, frozen between elegance and violence. Rendered with Longo’s signature photographic precision, Eric captures the emotional volatility and cultural anxieties of its era while revealing the artist’s interest in the cinematic, the dramatic, and the psychologically charged.
