Werner Bronkhorst
Werner Bronkhorst is a South African-born, Australian contemporary artist known for his two distinctive styles: hyper-realistic miniature figures set against abstract sculptural backgrounds and dynamic charcoal drawings of cars overlaid with bold text.
Raised in Pretoria, he drew inspiration from abstract expressionism, surrealism, and pop culture before moving to Sydney in 2020, where his artistic journey briefly shifted to bespoke furniture design. In 2022, the birth of his daughter reignited his passion for art, leading him to develop his signature three-dimensional painting technique using leftover materials.
Bronkhorst gained rapid popularity by sharing his creative process online, amassing over 1 million followers by late 2024. Independently managing his career, he playfully names his collections after the rebellious spirit of “Drugs, Sex, and Rock & Roll,” each tied to a theme—beach life, snow, sports, or water. His charcoal works, inspired by black-and-white photography, explore motion and layered meaning through text and imagery.
Seeing the world as a canvas, Bronkhorst invites viewers to reflect, imagine, and find joy in the small moments of life.
