Heavenly Elysia (2025) embodies Damien Hirst’s enduring fascination with butterflies, beauty and the fleeting nature of existence. Combining delicate butterfly imagery with an expressive interplay of colour and movement, the work evokes a sense of serenity, transformation and the extraordinary beauty of the natural world.
The title references Elysium, the mythical paradise of eternal peace and happiness, reinforcing Hirst’s exploration of life, mortality and transcendence. Through his distinctive visual language, Hirst celebrates the butterfly as a powerful symbol of hope, renewal and the delicate balance between life and death.
