The Bigger Picture
Inspired by the surrealist movement, Sage Barnes focused his work on the notion of contrast: visual and technique. He produces poetic or disturbing associations which share different emotions.
Sage Barnes is a self-described “painter and sometimes other things.” Raised in Missouri, Sage studied at the FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) in Los Angeles for a time before leaving to pursue a career as an artist. The artist has been surrounded by creativity from a young age, as his Grandmother is an oil painter, and inspired Sage to pick up a brush and paint. “Even though I haven’t been painting for years and years - I’ve already grown in all aspects of being an artist. My appreciation for art, the way I use art to communicate and really just the way I look at things,” he explained. The artist combines abstract, realistic, and street art techniques to create original and contemporary works.
The artist works from his studio otherwise knows as ‘the lab’ in Kansas, USA. His mode of production is extremely physical and involved, often posting videos of himself flinging paint against the canvas, or taking a hammer to the artwork to reveal an abstracted piece. The artist explores how this mode of destruction can lead to new forms of creation.

Your Framing Options
Box framing is provided with all our online framing, creating a distance between the glass and your artwork, so no risk of ink transfer to the pane. it's the perfect, gallery grade choice for limited edition prints or original artworks.
Shadow float mounting is an option at our website, to give the appearance of an artwork floating within the frame. The mount – an archival foam core – creates depth too, by casting a shadow beneath the artwork. We highly recommend using a float mount when framing artwork with deckled (hand-torn) edges.
As always, all our materials are sustainable and archival to keep your artwork in mint condition and perfectly presented. Simply choose from our white or black float framing options, before adding to basket.
Glazing all our framing orders are shipped with glass. We take great care with packaging to protect your artwork.
Alternatively, for added piece of mind, we've the option of gallery grade cast acrylic, offering superb clarity and protection.
